A Content Creator Is Hosting Saturday Night Live — Druski Just Changed the Rules
By MPPress, Allegedly Media

Media Crew, let this one sink in: a man who got famous making skits on his phone is hosting Saturday Night Live.
On Saturday, November 7, Druski — born Drew Desbordes — walks onto the Studio 8H stage as host of NBC's legendary sketch show, with The Strokes as musical guest. He is the first digital content creator ever to host SNL in its 52 seasons. Not the first comedian. Not the first actor. The first creator. That door has never been opened before, and Druski just walked through it.
Why This Is Bigger Than One Night
For fifty years, the road to an SNL hosting slot ran through movie studios, record labels and network television. Druski's road ran through Instagram and YouTube — the Coulda Been Records auditions, the characters, the sketches he built and financed himself through his own company, 4LIFERS Entertainment. No agent manufactured this. No studio packaged it. The audience chose him first, millions of them, and television followed.
That is the story of this generation of stars. The gatekeepers no longer get the first say — the people do, with their follows, their shares and their views. Druski's SNL booking is the clearest proof yet that a creator with a real audience is not "internet famous." He is famous, full stop.
A Celebrity Run Worth Watching
In June, Druski hosted the BET Awards — the youngest host in the show's history. He has a film role in The Catch alongside Emma Stone and Chris Pine. And this week, Netflix announced a multi-year deal with his company, with his megachurch comedy Collect & Praise premiering December 1.
Awards shows, movies, Netflix, and now the most famous stage in sketch comedy — all in one year, all built off content he started making himself.
Saturday Night
Saturday Night Live airs Saturday, November 7 at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Expect the characters that built him — and do not be surprised if a certain megachurch pastor makes an appearance in Studio 8H.
Whether Hollywood likes it or not, the creators are not coming. They are here, and one of them is hosting Saturday night.
