Media Crew, clear your Saturday night. Druski — the comedian who built an empire on phone screens and pure nerve — is about to make television history.

On Saturday, November 7, Drew Desbordes, known to millions as Druski, hosts Saturday Night Live on NBC, becoming the first digital content creator ever to host the show in its 52 seasons. The Strokes join him as musical guest. For a performer who built his audience one viral sketch at a time, Studio 8H is about as official as it gets.

The Netflix Era Begins

And SNL is only the beginning. On November 2, Netflix announced a multi-year deal with Druski and his production company, 4LIFERS Entertainment, to develop and produce original series exclusively for the streamer.

The first project out of the gate is Collect & Praise, a semi-scripted comedy series premiering December 1. Druski stars as his now-famous money-hungry megachurch pastor — the character fans already know from his viral skits — with veteran comedian Mike Epps playing his unpredictable deacon. Netflix will also bring his existing hits to the platform, including Coulda Been Love and the Coulda Been Records Auditions.

A Year Nobody Can Argue With

Consider the run this man is on. In June, Druski hosted the BET Awards, becoming the youngest host in the ceremony's history. He has a role in the upcoming baseball romantic comedy The Catch, alongside Emma Stone and Chris Pine. Before any of this, he did it the independent way — self-financed series, the Coulda Been franchise, the Coulda Fest live event, and an arena tour, all built without a network holding his hand.

That is exactly why this moment matters. Druski did not wait for television to come find him. He built the audience first, owned his company, and let the industry come to him — and now the industry is writing the checks.

What To Watch

Saturday Night Live airs Saturday, November 7 at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC, with Druski hosting and The Strokes performing. Collect & Praise premieres December 1 on Netflix.

From Instagram skits to the most famous stage in comedy — that is not luck. That is leverage, earned one laugh at a time.
